Dedicated to my father, Zvi Shani
Redemption is a very personal piece for me, because it was written for my dad who died almost 4 years ago. I loved and admired him for all that he survived due to the Holocaust and how he overcame adversity. This solo flute composition describes his early years in the Warsaw ghetto, the horrific events that occurred as a result of the Holocaust and finally, his ultimate redemption and success as he came to the United States, raised a family and built a successful business until his death in 2015.
'Redemption' has been performed at Timucua Arts Foundation, the Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts and Christ Church Unity of Orlando.
